Our Vision and the Curriculum for Wales
At Gorseinon Primary School, our vision of Belief, Achieve, Belong underpins the design and delivery of our curriculum and reflects the principles and purposes of the Curriculum for Wales. It supports our commitment to developing ambitious, capable learners who are confident in their abilities, enterprising and creative contributors, ethical and informed citizens, and healthy, confident individuals.
The vision was developed through purposeful and inclusive consultation with pupils, staff, parents, governors and the wider school community. Leaders actively sought pupil voice and stakeholder feedback to identify shared values and priorities. This collaborative approach ensures that the curriculum is responsive to the needs, interests and experiences of our learners and reflects our local context.
Belief supports pupils to develop confidence, resilience and positive learning behaviours, enabling them to take increasing responsibility for their learning. Achieve reflects the school’s high expectations for all learners and a commitment to providing rich, engaging learning experiences that enable pupils to make strong progress across the Areas of Learning and Experience. Belong ensures that wellbeing, inclusion and equity are central to curriculum planning, creating a safe, supportive environment where all pupils feel valued, respected and ready to learn.
As a result, the curriculum at Gorseinon Primary School promotes high standards, supports pupil wellbeing and ensures that learners are well prepared for the next stage of their education and for life in Wales and beyond.
