Pupil Voice at Gorseinon Primary
At Gorseinon Primary School, pupil voice is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that our children learn best when they feel heard, valued and empowered to shape their own school experience. By listening carefully to our pupils, we ensure that our school reflects their interests, needs and aspirations.
Pupil voice plays a vital role in the design and development of our curriculum. Through regular discussions, feedback and collaborative activities, learners help shape what and how they learn, making lessons engaging, relevant and meaningful. This ensures our curriculum is not only ambitious but rooted in the real experiences and ideas of our children.
Our School Council provides pupils with a genuine platform to share ideas, raise concerns and influence decisions that affect school life. Members work closely with staff to bring about positive change, helping children develop confidence, leadership skills and a strong sense of responsibility.
We also celebrate pupil voice through initiatives such as Criw Cymraeg, where learners actively promote the Welsh language and culture across the school. By leading assemblies, activities and everyday language use, pupils take pride in their identity and play an important role in shaping our bilingual ethos.
By embedding pupil voice across all aspects of school life, we nurture confident, respectful and reflective learners who know that their opinions matter and that they can make a difference — both within our school and beyond.
