Gorseinon Primary School has been educating children at the heart of the local community for over a century. The school’s history dates back to 1912—the same year Swansea AFC was founded—marking an important moment in Gorseinon’s educational and community heritage.
Originally, education in the town was provided through separate schools for boys and girls, reflecting the educational practices of the time. These schools played a vital role in shaping generations of young people and laid the foundations for the inclusive and forward-thinking school we know today.
Over the years, the school evolved in line with changes in education and community needs. In September 2012, Gorseinon Junior School and Gorseinon Infant and Nursery School were formally amalgamated to create Gorseinon Primary School, bringing all pupils together under one unified school.
A significant milestone was reached in 2020 with the opening of the new purpose-built school at Parc y Werin, providing a modern, welcoming environment where the whole school community could learn and grow together on one site.
Today, Gorseinon Primary School continues to honour its proud past while looking firmly to the future, remaining a central and valued part of the Gorseinon community.
