The Importance of Attendance
Regular attendance at school is vital to ensure that pupils make good progress in their learning, build strong relationships and feel a sense of belonging within the school community. Every day in school provides valuable learning opportunities that cannot always be replicated when pupils are absent.
At Gorseinon Primary School, we work closely with pupils and families to promote high levels of attendance and punctuality. Good attendance supports pupils’ wellbeing, confidence and achievement, and helps them develop positive routines that prepare them for future learning and life beyond school. We recognise that there may be times when absence is unavoidable; however, we strongly encourage families to ensure that children attend school whenever possible.
Why Every Day Matters
Even small amounts of time missed can have a significant impact on learning over the course of a school year.

As the chart shows, even a small drop in attendance quickly adds up to a significant loss of learning time.
